Draft Two Finished

I’m pleased to report that the second draft of book four of the Chronicles is now complete. One more edit, and the book should be finished, so I like to think I am now on the home straight. It’s a home straight covered with broken glass and littered with land mines . . . but a home straight nonetheless.

Up to this point, I have been working on a character-by-character basis – in other words, I write then edit the whole of one character’s story before moving on to the next. Now, it is time to weave the various character storylines into one single narrative. I have already noticed a few “blips” where the timelines clash, but it is nothing that can’t be fixed without some screaming and torturous re-writing.

Thanks to everyone who has got in touch to say they are looking forward to book four coming out.

On a separate note, I have had an article published at Writers Online where I discuss the differences between writing fantasy and thrillers. You can find it here, and you can find an extract from my thriller All Lies Hidden here.
